Purpose
The Planning Board/Board of Adjustments and Appeals conducts public hearings, and has the power to render decisions on special exceptions, variances and appeals; and conduct public hearings prior to making recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on changes in zoning and amendments to the County’s land development regulations and comprehensive plan; considers and approves site plans and development orders for major developments, and performs other duties as set forth by the County’s land development regulations. The Planning Board is also designated as the Local Planning Agency

The Planning Board/Board of Adjustments and Appeals is enabled by the Code of Ordinances of Okeechobee County, Florida, Part II, Land Development Regulations.
Membership Details/Requirements
- All members of the Planning Board/Board of Adjustments and Appeals shall be residents of Okeechobee County.
- The Planning Board/Board of Adjustments and Appeals consists of seven (7) board members; and one (1) alternate member.
- All eight (8) members are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners at a regular scheduled meeting.
Appointment Terms
- The terms of the seven (7) members and one (1) alternate member are appointed to serve staggered three (3) year terms.
Meetings Held
- 4th Tuesday of every month at 6 PM
- Location: Okeechobee County Health Department Auditorium, 1728 NW 9th Avenue, Okeechobee, Florida
