Okeechobee County currently contracts its County Attorney services with the Vose Law Firm LLP at 324 W. Morse Boulevard, Winter Park, Florida 32789.

The mission of the County Attorney is to protect the legal interests of Okeechobee County by providing comprehensive and quality legal services by representation to the Okeechobee County Board of County Commissioners, the County Administrator, and its departments.

The County Attorney provides advice to ensure compliance with state law and local ordinances, and to minimize or limit exposure of the County to financial liability. The County Attorney represents the Board of County Commissioners in all board meetings, any litigation brought by or against the County, including civil lawsuits, administrative proceedings, county court hearings on animal control or code enforcement and appeals.

Other functions of the County Attorney's office include:
  • Initiation and defense of litigation at the judicial and administrative level
  • Drafting and revising ordinances and resolutions for consideration by the Board
  • Assisting in the drafting and review of contracts
  • Participating in contract negotiations
  • Reviewing and revising personnel policies
  • Attending all BOCC meetings


This office also monitors the continual evolution of the law, both statutory and that which is created by judicial decisions, in an effort to ensure that the County remains in compliance with all laws and codes.
