Sitting on the northern edge of Lake Okeechobee, our County is the focal point of natures central and southern Florida natural drainage system. While the rules of nature dictate the movement of water and commerce; the quality of life dictates the alignment of roadways, school, homes and public facilities. Constant maintenance is required to insure citizens and nature can co-exist in this critical yet fragile environment.

Okeechobee County Road and Bridge Division maintains:

677 paved lane miles
31 unpaved lane miles
600 miles for tree maintenance
677 miles of Right of Way
Approximately 15,000 driveway and crossover culverts
Approximately 3,700 roadway signs
Mow 450 miles of roadside Right of Way

Our Road Division performs a variety of repairs and maintenance to roads, including:
