Line Service Technician (Airport)– Full-Time - $19.39/hour

The Line Service Technician position entails fueling, towing and the servicing of various types of general aviation aircraft with a high priority for safety and strong customer service in a fast-paced environment. Receives direction from the Airport Director, Operations & Administration Coordinator, or other higher level supervisory or management personnel.

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain and exhibit a strong knowledge of proper General Aviation/Fixed Based Operator safety procedures.
  • Follow oral and written directions; plan and complete assigned duties and training in an allotted time period as well as maintain good working relationships with the team.
  • Perform daily and monthly fuel truck safety inspections. Ensure vehicles are in safe operating order and running properly.
  • Perform routine daily and monthly equipment safety inspections. Ensures all equipment is in safe and proper working order. 
  • Perform daily fuel farm inspections including performing pre-loading and quality control inspections.
  • Marshal, park, greet, tow, wing-walk, fuel and provide various services including lavatory and water services to general aviation aircraft.
  • Process transactions for fuel and merchandise.
  • Completes daily reports and other reports as directed.
  • Assist other departments as needed perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Customer Service Orientation/Interpersonal Skills - Effective in maintaining harmonious working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, customers, and the public; interested, dedicated and enthusiastic toward work. Builds strong     relationships, is flexible/adaptable, works well with others, solicits feedback. Ability to deliver personalized service experience to private and business aviation clientele.
  • Mathematical Skills - Use basic mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Basic use of 10-key calculator
  • Computer Skills (Intermediate) - knowledge of concepts and terms, file management, document processing, use of presentation software, and use of e-mail to communicate.
  • Quality of Work/Independence - Observance of high standards and thoroughness in work procedure; accuracy and attention to detail. The degree of work accomplished with little or no direct supervision. Ability to make safe and efficient decisions during high activity times.

 EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma; any combination of relevant education and experience; basic knowledge of aircraft engines and fuel types. Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations and National Fire Protection Association guidelines. Must be able to complete Line Service Technician Training provided by Airport Fueling Contractor within 90 days of employment.

 (A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the above minimum qualifications.)

  • Preferred: Any combination of an associates degree in general studies or a related field; one (1) year experience working with a Fixed Based Operator as a Line Service Technician; Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations and National Fire Protection Association guidelines.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid Florida Driver’s license and good driving record.
