Fiscal Specialist– FT $21.43/Hour – Senior Services

 Responsible for fiscal work in developing and monitoring the budgets for various Senior Services' programs. Work is performed under the general direction of the Program Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintains all records of the agency's financial affairs, including but not limited to receipts, expenditures and other financial transactions as they may arise.
  • Implements internal controls to safeguard the agency's assets.
  • Maintain records in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations and requirements.
  • In conjunction with the Area Agency Executive Director, Program Manager and staff, prepare budgets required for grant applications and local operations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required by the various Federal, State and local funding agencies.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for submission to the program manager and the agency's advisory board and perform specific financial analysis of the agency's financial affairs as requested by the program manager and/or the advisory board.
  • Coordinates with the County’s independent auditor all facets required for a full disclosure of the agency’s financial status at the year end. This includes audits during the course of the fiscal year.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to apply accounting principles and relevant laws and regulations to the preparation and maintenance of fiscal and accounting records and reports.
  • Ability to acquire in-depth knowledge of fiscal regulations, budgeting and operational procedures pertaining to Federal, State and local grant funds.
  • Knowledge of computer financial programs.
  • Skill in the operation of calculators, computers and other office equipment.
  • Ability to operate with a minimum of supervision and to interface with other areas within the agency.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment.

Education & Experience:

  • Graduation from High School with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Accounting experience in Federal, State and local grant procurement procedures and related budget requirements.
  • Two years’ work experience in a fiscal position required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
