Grounds Maintenance Supervisor– Full-Time $20.72/hourly

Supervises grounds keeping personnel and maintains the grounds of all County owned properties. Work is performed under the general direction of the Facilities Maintenance Manager.  

Essential Job Functions 

• Supervises the grounds keeping staff responsible for both routine and extensive grounds keeping activity.
• Plans, assigns, and inspects the activities of staff responsible for mowing and trimming County owned lawns, planting grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs.
• Supervises the trimming and pruning of trees and shrubs; applying herbicides, insecticides, and fertilizers; litter and leaf removal and assisting with minor preventive maintenance and remodeling functions.
• Develops and implements training procedures to ensure the safe operation of all grounds keeping equipment.
• Inspects and maintains grounds keeping equipment. Makes recommendations to the Facilities Maintenance Manager for repair and new equipment. 
• Reviews incident and accident reports and makes necessary recommendations to the Facilities Maintenance Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees, vendors, and contractors.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or acceptable high school equivalency diploma
• Three years of responsible grounds keeping experience
• One year of supervisory experience
• Preferred: Courses in lawn care and grounds maintenance or a combination of education and training.

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations

  • Valid Florida Driver’s license
